A modern QSK still doesn’t produce the torque, everyone forgets it’s a shorter stroke engine than a 3406.

Sounds like a 5.9 liter 12-valve Cummins with about two grand in hard parts put into it. Not busting any balls, but it always amazed me how "weak" these huge engines are in comparison size for size. Are guys still pulling 80k with these hopped up engines, or is it just for fun/sled pulling/etc?

Finally conceding the fact that commonrail technology was superior to mechanical when it comes to big power was sadly a bigger hurdle than it should have been.

To my knowledge the few KTs and 3408s that are still in use in Canada are mostly used in the west pulling 140k superB trailers or "multiline" heavy haul in mountainous country.

Cat still to this day uses the MEUI injectors, they aren’t really high tech.

The newest QSK uses Bosch’s MCRS( modular common rail system) this system is a true high pressure common rail far more advanced than the cat system.

Even the current production C15 with all the latest and greatest emission crap on it uses the MEUI C system I believe.

Yes, cat still has not updated to a High pressure common rail.

The funny thing is that the Navistar Maxxforce 15 is essentially a C15 and it has a high pressure common rail setup, why cat hasn't adopted it I don't know.

I talk to him regularly, but someone telling him they have a 700hp acert and that engine actually producing 700hp if tested aren't very likely, too many people just throw HP numbers out there without having no idea of what the engine would actually produce.

Their smaller stuff is HPCR now. A lot of it is rebranded Perkins though.

Just to clarify to folks who are unaware, the C15 I was referencing is an off-road only engine.
