One more reason why they have to find another way to tax more people... while they smile at you and tell you they are not raising taxes...

Some drivers in Rhode Island were probably thinking the same thing until that state started charging truck only tolls.;)

New York State tried this with the HUT stickers for years but the state Supreme Court in Albany ruled against the state after it found out the state was charging out of state companies more than ones based in New York.

I remember them getting busted...this type of excessive taxing essentially needs to stop and all levels of govt need to get more fiscally responsible with finances...

Well, we truckers need to put a stop to this. Lets all go on strike starting July 1. That will show those scumbag politicians.

I wish it were that simple, but it is not.
You can fit 180 washer/dryers machines in a trailer. Manufactured in Clyde OH, 700 miles to Hartford CT.
Lets say the freight bill is $2500, or $13 per washer, on a machine that retails for $900. An insignificant number
Let's double the freight bill ( not likely to happen) to $5000 or $27 per washer, on a machine that now retails for $920 Still an insignificant number.
Add in all the transportation costs, getting the steel to the plant, parts, cardboard to put it in, is less than 10% of the total cost of the item.
It applies to almost all consumer goods.

Oregon has be doing this exact same thing for years. That is why they have so many scales scattered around. Look for it to be the norm in a few years because collection electronically is so easy these days. And carriers will have a surcharge for this just like they have for fuel now.

Oregon doesn’t have fuel taxes there at the pump that’s a big difference Connecticut still Does and will never get rid of that
