Diesel pump taxes in Connecticut are $.46 per gallon, or $.06 per mile for a truck getting 7 mpg. Add their proposed tax of $.17 and the net tax is .23 per mile.
The current mileage tax rate in Oregon is .21 per mile. It is a virtual push.
This is not any different from many taxes that are uniquely placed on trucking. Excise tax on truck tires and vehicles comes to mind. The huge imbalance in toll rates is another example. Trucking is and always has been in the crosshairs.
    Nothing has changed.
