A little ‘back story’, employer has a ‘95 Pete 375, Eaton 13 sp, parked years ago because of ‘bad transmission’, got truck running, aired up, moving around the yard.
Range selector works, but we are not sure if the splitter is working, we don’t have room to get up enough speed. When in high range, and I move the splitter button, should I hear something click or move in the transmission? Right now there is complete silence when moving the splitter. Is it possible the splitter selector is bad?
Another 13 sp question

If you're not hearing air flowing/exhausting when cycling the the button on the stick, its more than likely an air problem and probably not internal to the transmission.
If you're hearing air moving/exhausting from the knob and hearing nothing down at the transmission you're probably going to be pulling the aux section out to dig in a little deeper. -
We can hear the range move in the trans., but complete silence when moving the splitter button. Will get under it tomorrow, and check air supply lines.

No air at the knob for the split then I take it? Definitely go for the air system first then.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
There is as air supply line from the regulator to the splitter cylinder on the lower left. And a small line goes to the thumb button. It should have air off and on with the thumb button. With direct and OD if its that old. Shuttle valve in the side of those housings were a common failure in older trucks. Getting some silicone or white grease in those piston assemblies will not hurt.
spsauerland, jamespmack and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Remove the air line from the splitter and see. Lower left on aux section of transmission. One single air line. When splitter is forward, air should come out of that line.
Yes, you should hear the split, with the engine off. Not near as loud as a range shift though.spsauerland and jamespmack Thank this.
