As @hotrod1653 said Carthage is cake. Plenty of room as far as caves go, and well lit. One of my first trips 15 years ago when I was 20 and couldn’t cross state lines was to Carthage. I didn’t hit anything then and I have a sneaking suspicion you’re MUCH better with a semi than I was back then. Or even now for that matter.

I miss going down into there actually. @supersnackbar here’s they operate, at least the last time I was there anyway…

Pull up to the guard shack, you’ll need your pu/delivery number, ID they’ll want your phone number to call.

You’ll be given a map showing where you’ll have to go in there. It’s a one way in and out. You may get a gate key card and you’ll drop that in a box on the way out.

you won’t have cell signal once you go in or no people net signal either. You can’t idle in there, but it’s a nice 65-70 degrees year round. Most places have bathrooms and vending machines if needed.

    Enjoy your trip down there.

Got empty at Kroger last night in decent time...those two things aren't usually seen in the same sentence (Kroger and unloaded in decent time). Copped a few zzzz's, but didn't have enought time between getting empty and my next pu time to get part of a split break in, so, my 14 bit me...but that's the breaks sometimes. Got over to my next customer and drop/hook. It had a yellow alarm already showing on the tattle-tale box, and, one of the reefers plastic doors over the battery compartment was damaged. Someone clipped the edge and ripped the bottom latch out of the plastic door. I messaged Lincoln, bungied the door so it stayed closed, cleared the yellow alarm, and headed out. I got to Wytheville and tried to call Lenoir City's shop to see if they had a door in stock, I would head that direction instead of the way the fuel solution/routing had me running. But after 6 or 7 tries, with no answer (at 8 am their time), I said F-it and headed the direction I was suppose to. Unfortunately for the next driver, this load ends up being a drop at the delivery end too, so the next guy will have to deal with it. I gave it all I could with short hours. After trying to call so many times, I wouldn't have made Lenoir, and it left me short to get out of WV as well, so I am in Hurricane for the night. It doesn't drop until between 5 am on Sunday and 5 am Monday, so I got lotsa time...maybe I'll hit Lowe's and buy some big zip ties and bailing wire, and put it in a bag in my sidebox marked 'Shaffer repair kit'...(I already have 2 colors of Gorilla tape).
