Truck drivers will continue to cry about speed limiters until way after they become law. But very few will make the effort to contact their Congressional representatives to make their voices heard. And so we will end up with speed limiters as law.
And there is more coming down too. The following was approved by the House Transportation Committee as part of the highway appropriations bill that the house will be voting on. And passing it. It will be up to the Senate to stop it. Time will tell, but I think it will be the same as everything else that get put on us. Drivers wait until it's over then whine and complain about it.
    Prove me wrong, Please.

This is what the House committee approved:
    The bill includes measures to:
    • Increase minimum insurance requirements on motor carriers from $750,000 to $2 million.
    • Initiate a rulemaking for sleep apnea screenings.
    • Require FMCSA to review its changes to the hours-of-service rules established in 2020 and to create specific limits on the use of personal conveyance.
    • Require new heavy-duty commercial motor vehicles to be equipped with automatic emergency braking.
    • Research and consider the feasibility of installing side underride guards.
    • Return CSA scores to public view.
    • Create new authority for congestion pricing.

You know as well as I, it's a lot easier to complain than actually do something. I think it's a result of not having a voice to represent us for so many years, and these measures are passed with little, if any, opposition. Where's Jerry Reed when you need him?

You could not have said it any better! The fact that this thread has only 12 responses and 266 views while a thread called "Stranded" which appeared to be started by a 2 post scammer has 1,506 views and 57 responses, imagine that. Which thread is more important? Which thread will have way more of an impact on your life? It'll be too late for many when and if these changes take effect. A simple letter to your Congressman, so easy to do through their website these days can possibly do something to stop this, but no, drivers will sit on their ##### and complain complain complain and do absolutely nothing. There definitely are some drivers interested in trying to help prevent this Bill from passing, but not enough, definitely not enough. There are 4 threads on here regarding this Bill and the changes it can make, and they just get buried, pushed down the line.

    Quoted from the article

and there is no reason why that equipment should be driven at 75 or 80 or 85 mph,” said Steve Williams, chairman and CEO of Maverick USA in Little Rock, Arkansas, co-founder and president of the Trucking Alliance and also a former chairman of the American Trucking Associations. “This legislation will reduce the severity of large truck crashes and make the nation’s roadways safer for our drivers and all of us."

Okay Mr Williams, you were fine with making the trucks heavier, but over 65mph oh my God! You are such a clown.
I never have nor will work at Maverick. I call him a clown for his anti driver stances and policies while with the ATA.

And not just Maverick. The clowns at the ATA have been pushing for longer, heavier trucks for years. Even tried to tie raising the weights to an increase, per truck, of the heavy use tax to somewhere around $2000. Saying it would level the playing field while in reality, it would lower the playing field to their levels. They know that, for the most part, O/Os provide better and faster service that they just can't match.

as someone who already deals with speed limiters, trust me you dont want them! if it gets passed people willl conveniently forget you're limited. then come personally yell at you for not driving with the flow of traffic, while officers do nothing because its not considered harassment towards you

Contact your states reps and let them know how you feel. The more that speak up the better.
