I am interested in doing line haul for Saia in the Fontana, California area.

All the line haul positions in California only show an hourly rate range, not mileage pay. Do they only do hourly pay in California? If so, it it all straight time or is there OT over 8/40?

Any other info/advise/etc about Saia line haul is welcomed.

    Jay5GS Thanks this.

I’m sure it’s a set rate for the trip, not paid by the hour. Probably just depends on how many times you stop as to figure out the hourly rate for the trip.

Cali does everything differently why I moved out of there. It’s hourly cause of the labor rules I guess so I’d imagine OT after 8 hours. I don’t think they or other companies can pay straight pay. Honestly I’m not 100% sure. Like I said Cali is it’s own world.

Not sure this is it, as some job postings say the range is $32.xx to $38.xx, and starting at $35.xx with 1 year experience. So I think the range is from bottom to top of scale.

Not yet. Just did my fingerprints for HME a week ago. Already tested at DMV. Just waiting for my license with tanker and HME endorsements to show up. I want to have that in hand before I apply.

More than likely OT after 40-45hrs there are very few who pay as they should in Cali which is after 8hrs.

Yeah, trucking is exempt from normal OT laws. Some truck companies will still do OT over 8/40, some not. This just stood out to me as they could just pay mileage instead.
