Dude, things in the dinosaur age were different, it's not the same anymore. Like I said, you obviously have no idea how things work nowadays at the big boys places, especially Amazon.
Go get some fresh experience, calm down your Boomer ego and come back for a conversation

Teach me how to preplan in the situation I described above. No eta for unloading and no place to park your truck, except standing in the mile long group of trucks on the side of a public road. Oh, add ELD to that also
slow.rider Thanks this. -
it still comes down to what i said, and will stand by, no company is responsible to provide the truckers with parking.
poor planning on one's part is not a problem on my part.Opus Thanks this. -
As a trucker, you simply can not preplan, because you don't know if you will be spending there 4 hours, or 24 hours.slow.rider and Snailexpress Thank this. -
but sometimes the system needs fixing. It's true, everyone has to be responsible for their own
planning like you said, but I'm sure you would agree there also has to be a better way. -

if we do not respect one another, what example does that show the general public?
as a result, without us "policing" ourselves, the feds stepped up the rules, regulations. then add into the foray citizens from MADD, PATT, and others, and thier lobbying the state houses and D.C., and you have a perfect storm of hatred towards truckers.
to think that all warehouses should "cater" to the trucker(s) other than thier own employed drivers, is ridiculous.
case in point, i had to pick up a couple of our trailers at the UPS DC center in Chelmsford MA.
when i found the trialers, EACH trailer had the trash in them, from the shrink wrap, pallets, papers, from the loads they received.
my feelings, "it's your load, your product, your trash".
so you wanna know what i did..??
i drove around thier yard, backed up to a back corner, in the back, and happily dumped THEIR trash right there.
i even swept out the trailers of all the dirt, dust balls.
BOTH TIMES.WildTiger1990 and hotrod1653 Thank this. -
You are correct that it isn't necessarily Amazon's responsibility to provide parking. But for some reason Amazon is the only company of that size that sees no problem with the huge mess their DCs create in the surrounding area. Whose fault? The municipality, but Amazon is only going where somebody else is willing to pick up the tab., eventually they will find their mark.slow.rider Thanks this. -
and the reason why is, roads.
if the city, state, county does not do thier own traffic control planning, such as "back access" roads, or widening of roads, red lights, traffic circles, etc,etc...again, why should a major company have to fuss with that, or be vilified for it?
if the local's "see" dollar signs, employment, tax dollars in both sales and wage earners, and shuck thier responsibility for traffic control, that is on them.
so then, truck stops that are much needed, and get put onto smaller properties, by your way of thinking, should NOT be allowed to be built, and then YOU have to drive further? wouldn't YOU need to plan your route better as well then..??
Amazon and ANY warehouse simply does NOT need to provide parking for anyone but thier own on the clock, paid employee's.AModelCat Thanks this. -
Using your logic, perhaps a large corporation that manufactures chemicals for instance decides, I'm going to move to El Salvador where environmental regulation is weak, that way I can discharge a lot of my waste chemicals into their river. And they do, and they foul up the river and destroy the marine ecosystem there, and generally proceed to create environmental catastrophe. But they followed the rules right?
It's certainly not their problem.alds, oldtrucker66, slow.rider and 1 other person Thank this.
