04 Cat C12 Oil Pan Leak

    Hello again with my dumb questions as I'm a new owner operator with my first truck I'm trying to get up and running. 04 freightliner with a Cat C12 oil pan has oil and grime caked on all over it. Would this be as simple as me replacing the oil pan gasket? I don't see any oil leaks above it coming from the engine as far as I can tell.     yes its very easy to change that gasket. Just undu all the bolts. Save one of the center ones for last and hold the pan up with forearm while undoing the last bolt and it drops down. You will need gasket, and the isolators for the bolts since they are rubber and worn out. There are also metal sleeves that sit in each bolt hole. Those can be reused.
    I have 2ks prefix parts manual for the part numbers but im not 100 percent sure that they are the same for yours. I believe you may have a bridge motor being its 03-04. while its down, get rid of that drain plug and install an easy spout.

    Thank you. That will be my next task then when it comes time for the next oil change. And yeah I just learned of the spout today. I made a huge mess with that drain plug and took about 45 mins to get it off! Never again

    Give'r a good wash all around the pan before you take it off. Even above it. The cleaner you keep things the better. Don't want dirt dropping into the pan while installing it.

    This is the first I'm learning about a bridge engine. I'll have to see when exactly mine was made. Hopefully the later part of 04. But the thing runs great and idles very smooth. Only bad thing so far is it has a governor that limits the rpms while shifting..basically keeps rpms super low which threw me off so I'll have to see how to remove that. She runs good though but have yet to put a load on it. And I plan on cleaning that oil pan off at the car wash for sure.

    I would get new bolts too if you do the gasket. I changed mine a few months ago, bolts were pretty rusty but I just cleaned them up and reused. And then doing something I normally don't, used a torque wrench, broke one off
