Despite it being business is normal, make a habit of covering your ###. It may annoy an office prick, but then in circumstances like this you have a fallback.

Sounds to me like the bill of lading WAS right. The shipper just never bothered to load the freight for the second delivery.

    That’s on them IMHO.

As I stated, in the past I was sent on multiple stop loads and had a BOL with one address on them. I called the office and asked if these addresses were right and they said yes, deliver as we tell you. So I did.

The BOL was right. The address it had was the address I was going to. He even TOLD me I was making multiple stops. It's not my job to ensure I'm given the right paperwork and certainly not my job to ensure he loads the right freight. It is only my job to ensure that I gave THEM the right information. I confirmed the BOL was right before leaving.

I've done many multiple stops that don't have a BOL for each stop. The unloader signs the one BOL somewhere on the document, and I go to the next stop. That's not unheard of.

And no, the first guy unloaded just his crates.

If they gave you bols that had addresses for both your stops, then there’s not alot you could’ve done besides peeking in the back or scaling. Peeing in the back before the doors closed or scaling way lighter then bills said could’ve indicated something was off.

Idk how much info you get when dispatched but I always double check addresses and seals before leaving a shipper. I’ve gone back inside to clarify temps and addresses and report to dispatch if there’s a mismatch.

Thought he said they NEVER have all the stops on there, but he never checks them. Doesn’t sound right. How do you do a last stop with no BOL in hand for the cargo?

The entire weight of the load was less than 500lbs. There is no way for me to know whether or not the empty crates were right. The last time I did this I delivered 4 empty crates to the first place and 3 to the second. When I sealed the trailer I counted and I had 7 crates. Just like last time. Total weight about 300lbs. So it appeared identical to last time I did this a couple of weeks ago.

They don't take my BOL when I deliver these empty crates, they sign my BOL and I leave. In fact on this load I deliver to the shipping department, not receiving.

They didn't give me BOL's with all addresses but I'VE BEEN GIVEN BOL'S BEFORE WITH THIS COMPANY THAT HAD ONE ADDRESS ON THEM, NOT ALL ADDRESSES I DELIVERED TO. And everyone was fine with that because the dude in the warehouse loaded the trailer right.

Its not like I got to the last destination, got the trailer unloaded and realized I didn't have the right BOL or all the BOL's I needed. There was nothing to deliver to the 2nd location so the paperwork wasn't the problem. Had it just been paperwork that could be solved via email in about 3 minutes.

It's just that my company looked for any reason to blame me for that and they noticed the BOL didn't have the Michigan address on it so they jumped on that.

Stuff happens. Yes it’s part of your Job to check the BOL, before signing it. How many times have I signed one, left out and checked it down the road? Lots of times. How many times have I got to consignee with the wrong bills? Probably a couple times. There’s plenty of blame to go around. Your human. Humans make mistakes. Every one of Us. Nothings worse than an Employer who whines and rubs your nose in it. I guarantee it’s not the first time someone has done something similar. Regardless of who’s at fault, it’s in your interest to make sure the Loader gets it right. Not necessarily your responsibility 100%, but in your interest. I bet your more careful from now on Lol. What’s done is done. Sometimes a quick apology, and explanation can disarm a situation, better than blaming others. I learned a long time ago, when I screw up, quickly admit it. Let it go. Only Human, Life goes on.
