Most truck drivers work hard and work long hours. Working long hours every day can burn you out. I don't mind working more than 8hrs but doing it every day make stress my body. Plus I like working evening shift, it's relax, less traffic and gets quicker to your destination. I wonder I can work 8hrs and work evening shift?

Sounds like local work to me; not sure any OTR company would be OK with not using as close to your allotted HOS hours each day, and it means less $$$ for you. Only way I see those hours as an option for OTR is if you're an O/O, and then you can more or less set your own hours and book loads to accommodate that.

Absolutely possible. It’s just a matter of finding a job that meets those terms.

Don’t become a truck driver if you want to work smart.

8 hrs a day lol sign me up your looking at 10-14 hrs a day local or otr . with the low pay we get you need at least 10 hrs a day just so you can pay your bills and maybe put some away for retirement or savings . trucking is one of the worse jobs to have if your worried about your health . all we do is sit on our ##### and watch our belly’s grow

Totally Possible. I'm on scheduled/dedicated LCV turnpikes, I work 8-10hrs a day, 4 days a week, then I have one big 10-12 hour day (depending on traffic/crashes). 2.5 days off. I've lost 38lbs doing this job VS Can/US OTR. I'm a second shift kind of guy also, 5pm to 1am or Noon to Midnight is my usual hours.

These good jobs are out there, you just need to find them. You won't find them in For Hire General Freight, OTR, you need to look into LTL (UPS/XPO/Canada Post) Food Service (Coremark, Associated, Sysco) Private Fleets (Costco, Safeway/Sobeys, Coop) or Specialized (Super B Tanker, Super B Pneumatic, LCV, Triples, etc etc etc).

It took me 5 years, but I did it. Knowing what I know now, I could have done it in 2.5. Don't look at Kijiji and Indeed, and think those are the only jobs out there.

    Best of luck.
