I suggest you give it a try and see how that works out.
How about you only get paid for half the loaded miles you run as an owner operator.
Shops receive part of their revenue from labor and part from parts mark up.
Kind of like waitresses receiving part of their salary from a small hourly rate and part from tips.

    Rideandrepair and Coffey Thank this.

It was a joke, to make your metaphor a bit closer to what the other driver said

    Got it
    My apologies.
It just hits home as we run both an owner operator trucking business and a repair shop open to the general public so I see both sides.

    Rideandrepair and Coffey Thank this.

That's gotta be rough, wanting to help but also not wanting to put up with crazy requests

Hulld, Rideandrepair and Coffey Thank this.

The only thing the 60 series and the dd15 share is the name Detroit

60 series is a Penske design and the DD comes from across the pond.

Fascinating. I'll have to read up on that.

I've seen a couple different sizes of the series 60 is one better than the other or just pick the amount of power you need kind of deal?

@Rideandrepair can tell you about the series 60.

I have an FLD. I would not want anything else. The longest I have had to wait for anything from the dealer is next day.

Now if you have something that is that old, you need to go over from front to back inside out upside down inside out every witch way from the bumper back to the tail lights and everything in between before you go anywhere. Spare no expense and take what I say seriously. You can look at a truck that looks perfect and you can't imagine the list of things that truck will need to be safe and dependable. If you buy something that you have paperwork for a recent rebuild, still be prepared to put out 10 or $15,000 with no problem to make it right.

Make your truck safe and dependable and trips to the dealer will be a very rare event.

Thats my original plan to expect to double the price in the first year with odds and ends possible rebuild or replace somethings not expecting to get a few years out of a 20-30k truck first try

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.
