Just wondering if any of you guys have an alternate route you use to beat all that stop and go traffic on 95 around DC/Fredericksburg? Or do you just time your driving to go through when the traffic has died down? If coming from philly heading south, maybe take 13 through Delaware/eastern shore then get on 64 then shoot over to o Richmond and get on 95? Or would it be the same difference to just stay on 95 and deal with the traffic?

I'll take 13 if I can or 70 west from Baltimore to Fredrick and take 340 to 7 then hit 81. It really depends on where your going. Best thing to do, sometimes, is go through at midnight if you can.

You can take in Maryland 695 to 97 to 301 south, it will put you on at the 104 in Virginia. You will have some lights, but it will save you time when 95 is backed up.

Hwy 13 has a lot of stoplights from what I remember. On a holiday weekend it can be very busy, also.

Isn't US-301 a toll road through Delaware now?

Yes, don't know how much it costs but not much traffic. There is a scale right after you cross into MD.

    JC1971 Thanks this.

I wasn't going to mention this route because the last time I took it I didn't save any time, lots of red lights. but still more practical than 13.

I have driven iit many times going north during rush hour. It actually saves you time during rush hour when 95 is a mess.
