That's unsettling. If intermodal is dead, sadly, it's a direct indicator about our economy, that relies on that Chinese crap that is shipped in them. Probably a kickback from the Suez Canal deal.

I recently pulled a couple containers out of Joliet thru Landstar while my trailer was in the shop, and they paid pretty decent.

DEAD? Hell, until two weeks ago, we were turning away work because we didn't have enough drivers. Lowe's RDC has been getting 40 to 50 cans (domestic and sea) per week for the last 3 months, there's 4 carriers running them, then there's the regular BS. We've had so much long distance loads, I've been averaging 2 or 3 nights a week in the truck since early May. Last two weeks it tapered off slightly, our city drivers have had a couple of mid-week days off, but myself and the other road driver, as well as the two more senior city drivers have been working 5 days a week

Run in and out of Charleston here, nothing dead about it. My company has more trucks pulling containers than we have ever had, just trying to manage the volume
Sherm117 and Speed_Drums Thank this.
