I'd think some info got crossed somewhere, Roehl's expanding and as much as we can all debate the company's treatment of Drivers, I don't think any of us *think* it's losing money. Since it's privately owned, it's not vulnerable to a hostile takeover, and whereas I'm sure that there's some hypothetical price tag that would make Everett sell the keys, I doubt that any company that had the juice to offer it, would be a company that would want it.

I also think Wolding is too large for Roehl to eat, either. I's suspect Wolding would come with it's own debt-load, and I can't imagine Woldings got the contracts to make it profitable (because if they were great contracts, Wolding wouldn't be on the table, in the first place.)

I have no source. I'm just making up a theory, that happens to fit the facts as I see them.

I talked to a reliable office staffer yesterday... We are still turning a profit and won't be getting bought anytime soon. He didn't really answer who Roehl might be buying though...

Is anybody pulling any Ort freight, driving Ort equipment, or using the New London terminal? I'm not convinced we got anything out of that purchase. I would also wonder if history is repeating itself, because Wolding is another Wisconsin based company that I never see out there.

I see the H.O.W. trucks around periodically where I live. There's a driver that lives around here somewhere, his truck is usually parked every weekend. Wouldn't be to bad, they have an account around here (Polly-O) that would be nice then my husband wouldn't have far to dh for a load, assuming they're shipping of course lol. He got a macro yesterday saying there's plenty of freight going out to California that delivers the 26th if anyone wants to be out over Christmas, otherwise his DSR would "try" to get them home for it and asked for a reply on how he wanted to run. He told him run him like normal, but no to the west coast lol. He's now going back up into Canada, he just did Hunts Point recently. "Premium" pay,yay lol, actually helps make up for the slow freight a little bit lol. He's hoping to not be stuck in Canada for to long, we don't have it included in our wireless plan so he's in complete incommunicado while there other than the QC. By the way, I know it's $50 to take a load into Canada (cutting through or delivery, as long as you go into it), but if you're up there to delivery and then get dispatched on a load to bring back into the states, do you get paid the extra for that too? Yeah, a call in could answer it but if I can save holding or tying up their lines then I prefer to see if anyone knows for sure here, thanks!

I asked about Canada $50 bonus. Its only to ENTER..not EXIT. But if you ENTER then EXIT and then ENTER again, you get the 2nd $50. It is not $50 for each time you cross the border...The DRG seems to have it confusing.

A friend of mine at Roehl just did this very thing and figured he was due $100 for entering and then leaving. Got his check...only $50. So he called and got told what I stated above..

If you are loaded crossing the border either direction it counts for the $50. So if he is deadheaded back to the States to load, no money... The money is really intended to compensate for the headaches involved with the paperwork and wait at Customs. If he's going to Ontario there is almost always freight coming out in vans for a cool $100 total! :biggrin_255:

I agree with this statement but his FM and Payroll didnt. He was loaded in both directions. Told the $50 is only to ENTER CA from USA.

..I dunno. I don't work there, so all I can post is what he said to me.
    He has been there 3+yrs...

That's shady... I just looked in my DRG and it does say "$50 for each load into AND out of Canada." I would interpret that as $50 each way loaded... Take a load in AND one out, but it's pretty vague.

BINGO - and thats how my friend thought it as well.
But as I mentioned, into and OUT of Canada = 1 trip and 1 $50 payment.

He too, took it as each way you get $50.

It used to not be that way. There are all kinds of cost cutting "measures" in place right now. Most of them just hurt the driver.
