In Knoxville, there's plenty of local work paying decent money.
Transwood, eagle transport, I think heniff is there (if not, they're in Kingsport and Chattanooga), tidewater transit, first fleet, Saia, ups, multiple construction companies looking for drivers doing everything from dump trucks to heavy haul, etc etc etc.
I'm in between Knoxville and Chattanooga and I watch the job boards for entertainment... amazing how some companies still think 17.50 a hour for someone with a class a with x endorsement and 3 years experience, and clean mvr is good money. Yet, they seem to always have postings saying urgently hiring....ah, what do I know... I'm just a dumb tanker yanker
