Hello everyone- I am curious about what kind of shape the inside of the truck and sleeper are in when a new driver takes possession?
Does the carrier have someone clean before someone new moves in, or do I need to bring a bottle of bleach and a shop vac? What about the mattress, can I bring one?
    Thanks

austinmike, Rideandrepair and sevenmph Thank this.

pav nailed it. It depends on the company and what they have. You could get something fro. the 80s that looks brand new or you could get a 2021 that looks like this and would gag a maggot from how bad it smells. img_7631.jpg

The plastic interior can be cleaned if questionable, but if the mattress is not new in a bag, go and request one.

Personally, if the truck didn’t have a new mattress, I’d throw whatever is in there in the trash and use a thick sleeping bag or buy one myself. But they should give you one if it is a reputable company so it shouldn’t be an issue.

WTH a carrier would seriously stick a new hire in that without having it cleaned? That would be a rocky start.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I used to carry one of those waterproof matress zip bags when i did team slipseat. Only took a minute to stuff the matress into it and then wipe the plastic top down with lysol.

When i got my first solo truck at May the last driver left 12 USED adult diapers. A bucket full of piss, a box full of feces covered wipes. a floor covered front to back in molding fast food wrapers and leftovers, a totally overflowing cats litterbox, and everything was covered in tar from the cig smoke and smelled of cat piss. Matress was also covered in stains.

Heh being a rookie can be "fun"

I would have taken a picture then gone back with the keys and told them new truck or I walk.

    Yeah …..100%
If they expect you to inherit somebody else’s mess like that, how do you think they’d treat you? Hell no.
