Sitting in Council Bluffs doing a reset in the heat. I’m idling my truck for 2 days because they can’t find the APU problem. I don’t begrudge the shop being off for the day, but it’s pretty lame we can’t access the building to relax and shower. It would be very easy to provide key card access, but several of us are burning diesel trying to stay cool instead.

Long story very short, passed on my hometime over the holiday… combination of decisions I made last weekend coming back to bite me while running extended recap, my home bound load being double booked or scheduled in error by the customer, my wife work schedule change on Monday, Blah blah blah
getting home 1.5 days late and her job issues cutting off time together on the other end resulted in it just being silly to go home for one day of time with the wife.
so I ran with the load they found for me but would get me home a day later than planned, and grabbed a 34 at a Loves yesterday. Dropping today and then grabbing my next load heading back to Broken Bow.
Now with fresh clocks and a new quarter, it’s time to get rolling and get some miles in.
FCC did everything they could to get me home for sure and I know they wouldn’t expect me to come out early but now I have a few days to push into August.
The wife and I are hoping to use those extra days to string together with next months hometime to schedule a mini vacation to get away and see a new town or something.
so goes trucking… I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often than it does. Also another reason why I’m not a Planner, no one would get home on time… LOLLoner2legs and runningman0661 Thank this. -

Luckily we didn’t have any plans like that. It was easy for us to be flexible. Plus it actually worked out better for her to be at work today.
Glad they saw how important it was for you to be home that they approved a 1,200 mile Deadhead run to get you there!!!dwells40 Thanks this. -
OMG!!! … lol
Picking up a load at Moen-NC heading to HD-KS… this place is OVERFLOWING with trailers and several trucks trying to come and go.
Picked up here several times and this is very unusual… something must have gone sideways recently.
Every dock is full. Spots between doors are filled. In front of those docks more trailers are parked sideways before them 2-3 abreast. In another area they are 3-4 abreast where there are no docks. If a truck was under any of those trailers no one could even pass. There is even one trailer sitting outside the gate which means only one truck can enter or leave at a time. Yard Dog said to pull in and get off to the side as far as possible to stay out of the way.
They are only letting one truck at a time around back to the other side where we load. After two hours I got curious after checking in again to get a status update and walked around to the shipping side. On the back side they even have containers parked up on a berm which was not designed for parking. Get to the far side and sure enough, there are so many trailers back here that there is literally only room for one truck to bump one dock. Once on the dock there is room for locals to BT in to grab loaded shipping containers but a second full sized T/T would be blocking everything except to come in and have to turn around to leave, which one did.
crazy… like I said, very unusual for this place. Well, in my times here anyway.
I really feel for the Shipping Clerk and especially for this solo yard dog who is somehow making this little dance of trailers work.
My hats off to that Driver.
He needs a bonus this week!!!
hoping everyone is safe out here and fcc is keeping your wheels rolling. Heading back west at some point here. Whenever they get me loaded. 3.5 hours here and just bumped the dock. Crazy
