@runningman0661 I use to run barrels(they were preloaded) out of Charlotte to Gary In. The agent is still at LS. I use to go drop my trailer(I had my own) in Charlotte and preload it, come back Sunday afternoon and pick it up and deliver in Gary Monday morning. Also...CL2 agency has a shipper that I picked up every Friday(after I got tired of the barrels) for 3-4 years in Monroe......Now this was over 10 years ago for the barrels but cl2 still has that customer if you want to check with them,,,,,,

Thanks, I appreciate the lead, I will contact them and see if they still have that lane, and if it’s available.

@Dave_in_AZ might be a good hookup as well.
He runs mostly the west coast and the PNW, but he's a pretty good guy and might be able to mentor you as needed.
    Good luck and happy trails.

Actually this my first trip to the PNW in nar 2 years, and it took nar $11K to get me here, and we're thinking we're probably good for another 2 now.

I have nothing bad say about Landstar, had I not ventured into own numbers, I’d still be there.
But there is a learning curve

Their standards have gone down …… like the whole industry I guess.

I’ve seen Landstar trucks shined up and looking professional. I’ve seen some with duct tape holding the headlights in. But that’s true with all the carriers anymore. Have yet to see a Walmart company driver step out with flip flops and sleep panties on but that may be next.

When doing my research on Landstar I always heard the proverbial “they only pay 65%”. So my first week here I’m picking up a load in Ohio, another driver backed in a few doors down from a different percentage carrier comes over and tells me how he was leased to Landstar for 7 years, and got tired of only making 65% and now he gets 85%. So after talking awhile longer, we realize we are loading the same product going to the same customer. The next day I see him at the receiver, I strike up another conversation and casually ask him what his rate was on this load. He was paid $77.00 more on this load than me, 65% vs 85%. He only gets .10 discount on fuel, any fuel surcharge that’s broken out in the rate, his carrier gets a percentage of that, and no discounts on tires, repairs, or equipment purchases like are available here at Landstar.

So that 85% isn’t looking so great now IMO. Some people get turned off at the percentage we get here, but I don’t think they’re looking at the bigger picture. I’m sure some will disagree, but I’m fine with the money I’m making here. I left the house Tuesday and in three days generated $4436 to the truck, but hey poor old me is only getting 65%.
