    Hi y'all,

I was wondering if there is a height/weight requirement going into trucking. I am a women, 5'2'', 110 lbs. Fit and goes to gym for weight lifting quite often. Is there a physical requirements for trucking? Does it differ from companies? Thank you

Depends on the job. Flatbed or HH takes more physical fitness. Otherwise, if you can reach the pedals your good to go.:)

i actually knew a gal that the company shop installed "blocks" on the fuel, brake and clutch pedals.

as long as you can pass a DOT physical, a DMV driving test, and the various CDL endorsement tests, including hazmat, and have a clean background, then you can drive a truck.

i also one time, when i was delivering to one of the GM factories, was watching a trucker back into a spot. all the other drivers were watching too. that driver got the trailer into a rather tight dock, after a few tries.

when the driver got out of the cab?

she must've stood 4 foot nothing..... (at least she looked it), and the other drivers just walked away, not daring to bust her chops.......

Like any job the physics do come into play. If you meet the physical requirements that's all that matters based on the job requirements. I have seen men & women that are not physically qualified for the job. I am not physically qualified to work in the food service trucking sector (C.D.L aka cant do labor):D:D

Gotcha! Looks like there are a lot of niches in the industry. That's why I'm here doing all of my research :)

At your size I don't think your up to the task of tarping, strapping & chaining. But you could prove me wrong. I'd start out pulling Vans and get a feel for it. Driving is only part of the job. Good luck.

You can do anything you want in trucking..your size isn't gonna stop you from doing whatever niche you want.

You'll find that the ergonomics of the truck cab are usually pretty good. Seat, steering wheel and mirror adjustments are generous. You'll be fine.
