It depends of course. If it's 73 out I'll idle for 30 minutes and sleep. Normally wake up at 2 am run it for another 30 minutes. That will get me till morning. I own it. It's $3+ an hour to idle.

    Depending on where you're at.

It could be $5 an hour to idle.

Lots of inverters now are available with battery chargers or "shore power". I plug mine in when home and it keeps the batteries up, fridge on and in the winter bunk heater on. No need to empty water and such when home, close the curtains and leave the heater on low, inverter keeps the batteries up, it's actually good for the batteries to be working than sitting. I have 4.5 years on my current batteries and they are working like they did when they were new. They always have a discharge of some sort, and always a charge or the charger goes into float mode.

20180421_144219.jpg I've run one of these in my truck.

Cheap. readily available(Walmarts everywhere!), and hold up decent.
Don't expect fridges like these to last forever! First one I had died a month after I bought it. I was in the "middle of nowhere" WV. Of course there was a Wally World in town so I exchanged it for a new one no charge! Easy peasy! Number 2 lasted a little over 2 years. Died in Troy, Mi. Went around the corner to Wally World and picked up a new one. Total cost over 4 years.........$150.
I can make coffee and leave it plugged in to the 2500 watt inverter with the truck off. I don't usually do that! I fit perfectly between the seat bolt holes on passenger side in the Volvo. Easy to lash down with a couple of hook bolts and a 1" ratchet strap.

As is RV's couldn't get any cheaper they are now putting 120v AC dorm fridges in campers these days. Makes no sense to me but it is true.

That said, I had a bigger dorm fridge in my rig until I could afford a Truckfridge TF130. It held up fine. I sold it on Craigslist still working fine for $50.

Screw that. Can't make a single trip to Walmart if you are cooking in the truck without stuff falling out. Had a Galanz Wally World 3.1 cu ft that was good. Ran forward couple of years door hinges rusted and door started coming off. Got more than my $ worth.

Now looking at this to be able use the factory truck fridge connection and Studio Sleeper switch.

Overall it depends on how good your batteries are and the efficiency of the inverter, but it should be fine at least overnight. Test it at home so you can jump start from a car if needed or at a Loves truckstop with a shop, they will jump start you for free if you are in the lot.

For reference, I have a 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter in my truck and was able to go about 40 hours with the truck off in 60f weather leaving my truck fridge and 85qt chest freezer running and the truck struggled to start. At 48 hours it needed a jump start. Tested it at home so I could easily jumpstart the truck.

Flip side, truck off in 70f weather with a bunch of small fans and 1 high velocity desk fan running since my AC was broken, truck needed a jump start after just 12 hours.

Not in most trucks, that's for sure. I put one like that in a travel trailer once. Worked ok but no way I'd spend $1300 on a cheaply made residential AC fridge that is going to die after 6 months of truck vibration.

Look at a Truckfridge T130. They are deceivingly big. That's what I run in my Volvo 780 but I did have to cut out one side of the factory fridge cabinet.
