Pull the piping and inspecting the turbos is the only real way to check them and pull those pipes is a pain.
If you have heavy black smoke, then the DPF has failed. If the engine is deleted, then I really can't help further, but at this point you need to run an air management test with Navistar Engine Diagnostics and go from there.spsauerland Thanks this. -

If you had tail pipe smoke, you still have a failed DPF.
