Lets all just admit that... The individuals that wrote the rules pertainimg to ELDs have zero idea how real world trucking works, have thier heads so far up thier ### they can smell thier own breathe, and therefor sometimes these regulations dont work and need to be bent just alittle.

Doesn't apply as the drive time was assigned to s specific driver already.
It also doesn't apply as it's doesn't address the issue of assigning to a shop account.

The original statement was to assign already assigned drive time to a shop accout which I've shown is not legal. You keep bringing up unassigned time which is a different issue. Unassigned time still cannot be assigned to a shop account, but at least it can be notrd and left unassigned.

If the driver rejects it, it goes to admin. Admin can note and call it un assigned. What they do with it is up to the carriers policy.

After being on ELD for so long, doing paper logs is a major PITA imo. But there are times when I have "blown up" a 34 reset due to needing to move the truck across a parking lot and accidentally exceeding 5 mph or similar innocent circumstances.

In this instance, one has the choice to either start the 34 over, or in my case, decide to go paper logs and rely on the humanity of the potential DOT inspection. I mean if there is a 1 minute violation in a 34, and that shows on ELD, and one decides to continue to treat the 34 as the 34 even though the ELD will no longer reset the 70, the only option I could muster is to run paper logs and be prepared to explain what happened. The paper logging is such a pita that the experience served to make me be more careful.

If I had gotten whacjed by a DOT man seeking to show me whose boss I might think different. But it seems to me any reasonable DOT man that could see the truck was not in operation for a reset would see things my way.

Life involves a series of risks....
