I just watched the video again. As hard as he hit that wall, I really believe he lost a steer tire.Last edited: Jul 13, 2021

the driver was going too fast for the curve.
he admitted to hit the center barrier which you don’t do if you slow for the curve.
this was just rebuilt and modernized that area.
this happened a couple times before on that very spot and happened at the 9 mile curve about five years back,
When I was a temp driver, one of the company drivers told me when I was assigned to another project, he took the big truck out and was going up NB 75, lost control of the truck on the 9 mile curve (he claimed he was only doing 60 but he had to be doing 70 or 75 … the idiot was always a fast reckless driver), when the truck started to slide, two small 4000 lb die sets rip the straps (I only would use chains but they were lazy) sliding off the deck hitting one truck and a car, he put the truck up the embankment. I saw that truck recently, it is a mess, they put gaurds up all over the deck like it is training wheels.Bud A., NavigatorWife and mitrucker Thank this. -

Just an update, MDOT are going to taken right down back down to the road bed to build it back to the same specs as it is just rebuilt, an estimate cost is something like $15m. Could be as high as $20m.
lovesthedrive and NavigatorWife Thank this.
