Or it could be the EGR cooler. Have had several that start out with a slow drop in the reservoir over a couple days, by the time it got fixed it was eating a gallon or more a day. If it is an EGR cooler, it ends up clogging the DPF because coolant doesn't burn off when it hits the DPF mesh like soot does during a regen, it just gums it up.

Also I hear that silicone hose will loose coolant without leaking as well. Some home the water evaporates through it.

Check trans if you have a water to oil cooler. Not the first time its happened.

I agree with EGR cooler. Cummins are notorious for it.

make them pay breakdown pay while sitting in motel.
I wouldn’t buy coolant for their truck without reimbursement.
You’re throwing money out the window.

Sounds like you're burning it to me if you can't find a leak. Does your exhaust have white streaks coming down from the tip? Do you get white smoke when you first start it up when the motor is cold and then it stops after it warms up?

Yeah, I don't see me making anyone pay me anything they don't want to.

Paying for the coolant out of pocket was my choice. I don't doubt that they would have reimbursed me for all of it, but I had my reasons for not submitting all coolant expenses.

What you call throwing money out the window, I call making a very profitable investment in maximizing my income.

I wonder if I also had that issue on the old truck, they definitely changed the water pump though.

I know the DPF was removed and cleaned at least twice between 500k and 600k. You would think with the hundreds of Cummins powered trucks in the fleet the shop would be aware of that weakness but who knows.

Then keep adding coolant and keep driving until it shuts down 200 miles from nowhere, it’s on you, I could care less, I’m not the one taking a chance on a major breakdown or a $35000 engine on a 1000 or less repair.
