One of first OTR trucks my dad drove. Was originally a 4x2, but they added the rear tag axle. He said pretty good at getting stuck everywhere. I know he figured a way to chain it up when he was empty.

    A update on this picture.
They did a interview at that location.
The semis were moved by the force off the water.

Btw Germany is one off the best prepared countries ( @98989 can confirm this ) in the world and even they were overwelmed.

    98989 and spsauerland Thank this.

I know which rim you meant, but it looks like tractors are still getting rim like my Volvo:

Rules are rules, he violated them. He also couldn't keep politics out. I think we all enjoyed debating with him. Always made this thread interesting. I wish him well. I really enjoying learning how things are done in other parts of the world and seeing things from a different point of view. Truly awesome to talk trucks globally. Kenworth still is the world's best...

I seem to recall Dirk ridiculing our silly little tag axle tires not too many years ago - form follows function, and the laws of the land.

He certainly possesses the intellect to accomplish great things, but in my opinion lacks the ability to approach things with an open mind.

My Dad was a professor and made his career as a forest entomologist, primarily doing research - even had a couple of sub-species of insects named after him. He taught me that if you are asking questions to seek a specific answer the effort will always be flawed. If on the other hand one asks a question purely to learn the answer, then the information derived is accurate.

I could cite many examples in recent history where "following the science" has been more about manipulating data to further an agenda than truly trying to learn. Also, as a student in the 70s, the science told us that we would be in an ice age by the year 2000, and that all fossil fuel reserves in the world would be exhausted. Hence, I appreciate science but know that there is always more to learn.

Dirk also has displayed no appreciation or desire to learn from those who have practical experience, nor appreciation for those who actually make their living in this industry. Or, maybe he did but his personality wouldn't allow it to show.

Anyway, my blood pressure is probably better in his absence as I don't possess the ability to dismiss or take with a grain of salt his contributions, but he was entertaining. It was fun to push his buttons too!
