CDL BUT NO HOME ADDRESS

Depending on the state, they have different requirements that define ‘resident’. Find out what that state requires.

 

Some states are more strict than others, but sometimes there's a difference between what they officially say is accepted and what you can unofficially slip thru the cracks.

My address is a mailbox in a UPS store. More expensive than a PO box, but I snuck it thru the system and it got accepted. Just don't refer to it as a box when you write your address. You can use the # sign as if it was an apartment, but even if you call it a suite, the mail will still go to it.

 

South Dakota is the state a lot of full-time RV'ers use. They allow you to use a mail forwarding service for the address on your license. I think legally you have to spend one night per year within the state borders.

 

I met a driver that had been living in his truck for 7 years.
He used an RV park with lot number for his address.
His mail goes there which is put in a box at the office.

Some people use Escapees RV Club which has mail forwarding and can also set you up with a legal address for your cdl.

If time is short for renewing your cdl, just keep the address the same as it is now, then after renewing your cdl work on the address change and let the post office know to not send mail the the address of the house you just sold. Have it forwarded to your sisters house until you get your own legal address somewhere.

 

You can always use a family member’s address.

 

If you have friends or family you can use their addresses. If not there are a TON of farmers who will happily rent you a small slip of land for the couple times a month you happen to be there for a low price and just toss your mail in a box.

To forward your DL when it comes in the mail.
