I was watching an old episode of MASH a while back and recall Klinger saying this, "Those who can't manage those who can." I never really understood it when I heard it, but now it makes complete sense, especially in the trucking world. I'm in my early 50's age wise and in the many orientations I've attended and given the office walk around tour, I always marveled at how young and preppy most of the DM's looked, you know, it's that fresh out of college look with the cool hair style and clothes.

Not one of of my recent DM's has ever driven a truck and therefore has no idea of what the job entails. Oh sure, they can try and imagine it, but until you do it, you just don't know. I'd even guess that one of my DM's was the son of an illegal immigrant, but that's what the country has been turning into for a long time.

If there's any hope, let me know because I see the day where the "trucker shortage" gets "so bad" that they decide to let illegal aliens drive. If you thought you were under paid for the "privilege" of working over 70 hours a week, you ain't seen nothing yet. Then again, what do I know?

I love how the article mentions that the four wheeler made a U turn in an interstate median in order to find a safe place to park.

Can't criticize that kind of brilliant maneuver.

We flowed a acc. where a DUI. driver ran a light and was hit by one of the leased on trucks in our coil hauling div. the law suit went on for 2 years and every safety meeting it was covered till my co. payed a good bit of cash to the car that was hit after the drunk drivers car hit them with no Insurance. it was unreal how just driving can cost the driver in our truck was named in suit with co. he was leased on to (ours) and all his logs were right on the dot as to to times loaded and still the co. payed his part of damages that were taken from his bank acc.

From the way it sounds idk if automated braking would have saved anyone.
If he couldn’t respond in time to ditch it, it all happened real fast.

maybe eventually they will stop letting every idiot drive a car.

Why should he ditch it anyway?
A life in your vehicle is of no more importance than a life in mine. if you choose to throw yours away that’s on the driver

I’m more then happy to ditch the truck to avoid killing someone, if the ditch isn’t likely to kill me.
If it’s a clear open median, looks like we dirt track racing today boys.
If it’s filled with BS well get ready for the bang cause suicide isn’t on my to do list.

I can’t control the destiny of anyone in a vehicle around me, I can only control mine.
I understand doing what you can to avoid an accident, but typically leaving your lane is your suicide.
