No matter what you make, be it $16.50 or $28.00 an hour I think it should be done in a fine leased vehicle from BYOB&CBD the company that wants to put YOU in charge of your financial destiny. Yes I said leased, there it it layed out for all to read, and I'm not ashamed.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
I live in rural man. Largest cities are 12000 to 20000 population. They are within 60 miles. Old dominion is hiring drivers for 28.00 an hr. Been advertising for months. I spoke with one of their drivers and he said he works 50 hrs a week usually. Their cross dock is in a rural area also.

That’s ideal. Making good money. Being Rural, covering a large area is great. I worked LTL, in a major metropolitan area. 20 stops within 5 miles of one another. Always hustling, to get back early, and grab an empty, do a few easy pick ups, for night shift, so I could get more hours. Only rest I’d get was when I had an hour drive between stops. Rural LTL would be the best of both worlds.

In fairness to the OP, I made $15+ an hour. Not bad in 1994. Always worked 60 hrs. in 5 days. Time and half after 8. For a while, I’d work Mon Tues Thurs Fri. 60 hrs in 4 days. Pays 72 hrs. instead of 70 if done in 5 days. Grossed around $1100 a week. Sure beat .25-30 cpm for road work at the time.Local work ought to pay $30 an hour, with OT after 40. Not straight time, or after 50, like many these days. Overnite used to pay $11.00 all straight time, while the big Union Outfits were at $17.00 an hour with OT after 8. Never understood why anyone would want to stay at Overnite, for such less pay. They ran Drivers through orientation in Va.Sent them home with a Load to work the city. Classified them as exempt OTR Drivers. Taking advantage of the loophole. It was challenged in Court. Guess the Employers won that one. Too Bad.
