Yup. Used to do a 360 every time i got out at the oilfield, habit has stuck with me and it has saved my bacon many many many times. Hell about 3 days ago i found a 5th wheel puller positioned in a way i would have gone over the hook with my steer tire.

As for biggest fear its getting into a major wreck and killing a family. And after being in one where i Tboned a moron who ran a stop light and then watching that mom pull out a infant that wasnt crying its now even worse.....even though everyone turned out to be fine with the worst injurys being a few bumps and bruses i still have nightmares about it.

That’s how the moron down the street where I used to live killed his kid, he was high on cannabis and needed to go to the store to get beer and snacks. The kid ran out to chase the dog, ended up under the pickup, when the guy took off, the kid got hooked into the hanging exhaust and was dragged three blocks, dying at the store. He was so numb from the cannabis that he didn’t even know what happened until he sobered up and he was indifferent over it.

I don't have a CDL or drive commercially, but during the winter; I always ALWAYS give the hood of my truck a couple good, loud smacks before I get in and start it. There are stray cats around here and I'm sure atleast one has been killed on the street I live in due to bunkering down on top of a warm engine.

Luckily, no cats got up in my truck as of yet. Yeah, I did get more than a few funny looks from people and a cop once.

If the wheels were straight forward that probably would not happen.

The same is true for many truck drivers... just being truckers.
