Just bought an 04 Argosy with a Cat c12 that was previously a Cali fleet truck so someone installed a DPF on it. It's not needed here in Texas since its a pre emissions truck. My question is can I cut it off and straight pipe it and it be as simple as that? Or do i need to get the computer reprogrammed too? Again it's not needed in TX so it's not illegal.
New to me 04 Freightliner DPF?

Any advice on how to bring this truck back to factory?

Probably have to talk to a shop about it. I think you could take it off like you’re saying, but a shop would have to reset the computer most likely before the truck would even run properly after taking it off.
JRut Thanks this. -
I would sure get it off though. A pre emission C12 is a good motor. Solid as a rock with good fuel mileage.

Because I like to complete a post, I wanted to post the update. I pulled the DPF off as well as all wiring and sensors going to it and to the dash module. Had a factory muffler installed. Feels like a whole different truck and gives me peace of mind that my truck can actually breathe now.Coffey, AModelCat, OldeSkool and 1 other person Thank this. -
That’s awesome!!! I got my 17 model Cascadia deleted and it felt like a different truck. No need for all that junk. Nice truck by the way!!!

It's starting to come together. Fresh back from the paint shop, new tires, and chrome hub and lug nut covers on the way then she'll pretty much be ready for the road. Engine already gone over and all maintenance stuff done, dpf deleted. Can't wait to put it to work.

I like it!!!

Do you know what DPF it had? Did it have a data logger/monitor in the cab? I need to do the exact same thing to a HUG system.
