My father returned from Europe after WWII on the Queen Mary. So crowded you could hardly find a place to sit, he said. He and my mother visited the QM in 1996 on a trip to visit my mothers sister who lived in Fullerton. They had a section fitted out like it was when he was on it. He said it sure seemed larger without all of the soldier's on it.

They would be better off to fill the water area with concrete. It wont be a boat anymore, yet it wont be able to sink anymore either!

Problem with concrete is it absorbs moisture and can destroy the ships hull with corrosion.
'Keel Blocks' are better because the hull can be inspected just by looking at it. The ship can last forever on keel blocks.
Here's my old ship in the water and on keel blocks.

When those guns fire, paint chips come off the ships interior.
My battle station was two decks below the main deck and beside the lower section of the forward gun turret.
    Paint chips would fly!

@Flint1 - There were some Canadians on the ship. All they had to do was cross the border and enlist. Don't know if that's still allowed or not; probably is.
I knew quite a few of them and all were great people. Everyone like them.
If they stayed in the military for 7 years, they could be US Citizens. Some did that and some went back to Canada just because they preferred to.

    Flint1 and nredfor88 Thank this.
