Try putting the grommets in backwards. With the thinner, wider part of the flange on the inside of the hole. It takes a bit of fannagling, but you should still get a good seal and they may stay in better.
I have tried this a few times and it seems to work...

I actually looked in the parts room to see which manufacturer it was because we have been having this happen a lot lately. Now I forget which one it was. Going to look again on Monday. Never had this happen before Over the years.

A very small amount of grease will solve your problem.

it is my experience that spit or any kind of moisture is what makes them stick together.

That’s what I’ve been starting to notice. It may keep them from wrinkling up, but at the end of the day you’ll need a screwdriver to pry them apart.

I have that happen , never had it before, most of the time they won't fall out of the glad hand. Chinese are not very good at making glad hands , never had them break, now they break

BigBob410 and MACK E-6 Thank this.

in all my years, i ain't never had that happen.

best i can suggest is a light spray coating of maybe PAM cooking spray, as oils, lubes maybe eat away the rubber.

    MACK E-6 Thanks this.
