You have to remember what CFI is accustomed to paying its owner operators. You probably won’t ever be able to reason with them, nor should you. A91A91A5-7569-41F1-9B2B-A544DD1C6C5B.png

OK that helps, but even you said 100% gross is not reasonable, so some negotiation should be expected. IMO.

Yeah, we’re on the same page. I’m definitely not expecting to be made whole. No chance of that. I’m just trying to lose less in a bad situation.

A nearly Billion dollar a year gross revenue trucking company damages your truck through no fault of your own and you don’t want to be made whole. I totally understand forgiveness, but I also understand personal responsibility when you or someone under your control screws up. Do you think for one minute if the tables were turned and you took the hood off a CFI truck that they wouldn’t come after your insurance for every red cent? You deserve to be made whole for everything you loose because of their mistake. Yes it was a mistake but we still have to pay when we make mistakes. You shouldn’t even feel bad about it. I don’t mean you should get one dollar more than you would have netted working but you don’t deserve one dollar less. If it were me I would go to their Facebook and Twitter page and post your pictures and your experience with CFI thus far in how they are handling this. 9DA4A967-A75B-4457-AB77-532EACD4CCF0.png D0376230-27B6-4136-89BC-E749992656BD.png If that didn’t get a quick resolution I would then start aggravating the F@@@ out of whoever I could until they realized I am not going away until I am made whole. Good luck!

Agreed. They would fry my insurance if the tables were turned. I'd be out for blood simply on gp too considering the trash these megas put out on the interstates too. They put everyone at risk while they literally pay Congress to make laws that take restrict our operations and liberties in the process. Legal fees are a deductible business expense I would be happy to pay in this situation with every cent I could scrape up.

Just to be clear I have absolutely nothing against CFI, but they are responsible for their employees actions. Even when they make a mistake that temporarily costs someone else the ability to feed their family. I wouldn’t even be mad at the driver. We have all done stupid stuff in our careers.

You bring up some good points. I really wish it wouldn’t have happened. Their driver had been driving less than 3 months and couldn’t communicate in English effectively. I had to go through his permit book to find his insurance policy because he gave me two different truck registrations when I ask for his insurance. The cab cards he gave me were both out of date. He also had 3 years worth of insurance cards. I’m sure it was just from the previous drivers of that truck, but they obviously never explained anything about organizing his paperwork or anything. I was really pissed off and somehow felt bad for the guy at the same time. It’s embarrassing how some of these mega carriers do business.

This is par for the course when it comes to these megas. They're dirt bags and they do anything they can to put us out of business. Show zero mercy IMO. Every day they attack you and you never know it because they do it via legislation by your "elected" officials.

Dude, I really feel your pain. Old Dominion did me nearly the same way. Dude straight up backed into me.....actually, he released his brakes and rolled back into me. Nevertheless......it is the insurance company you're fighting, not the trucking company and insurance companies are A holes and their mission in life is to pay nothing.
It's ironic......the people who screw us so hard on the front end are the very same people who screw us harder on the back end.
Personally, I got by with $500 a day during down time.
