That's why I didn't say younger guys, and referred to it as new age. Also, emphasis on the "old guys" was more in line with the way people refer to anyone who disagrees with them as "old", "boomers" or other attempts at derogatory language for those of us who don't fit the newer lines of thinking.
Hell, if you want to live paycheck to paycheck, make slower progress, or just lack drive to improve your socioeconomic standing then as the OP states "you do you". As for for me I'll take the current "sacrifices" as @Trucker61016 calls them to further improve my family potential.
Rant: The 5-days-in-a-row workweek is arbitrary and my body doesn't agree with it

Sounds like a millennial...
I was raised farming and ranching, days off were like wizards and goblins... Things of make believe. Dad used to say "Suck it up tough guy."
Even after I left home on my own I worked 6 days a week. Now 5 to 6 days a week driving is like heaven, I get a weekend, AND I'm home most every night... What more could you ask for, besides more money?God prefers Diesels, clausland, homeskillet and 8 others Thank this. -
That's why most of the truckers were country, Midwest, south or west , or east, most did not go by the clock,

Everyone has to do what works for them. I don’t really need to be around on the weekends. I’ve found what I enjoy the most is running fairly hard for 3 to 4 weeks, getting by the house for a night here or there, and then taking a week off. I’ve found I enjoy the extended time off more than just the weekend since I’ve moved. When I was living in MT I loved weekends off because all the outdoor activities were right out my door. But since I bought and remodeled a cheap house in the middle of nowhere I need to pack up the girlfriend and dog and mountain bikes and head somewhere for a few days to enjoy the outdoors.
When I was growing up and dad was alive he always made sure to park the truck and make time for family trips. I’ve never understood why it’s considered lazy if trucking is anything other than your life 24/7.Speed_Drums, Badmon, gone4truck and 2 others Thank this. -
I’ve worked for 6months without a day off, but I don’t like it.
why should we have to sacrifice to make a living?
“I work hard for a living” doesn’t mean much to me other than
“I waste hours days and years of my life doing something other then spending time with my family”
I’m not impressed with that, I can’t stand it for myself.
if I didn’t have other people to look after I’d be happy with a shack down by the beach and a boat spear fishing and working a part time gas station job.Badmon, GettingRolling, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -

I think it’s easier OTR, because I can set my own schedule during the day instead of working someone else’s hours.
Today is July 26, I have worked every day since July 4th except for 1 day of layover. Running off recaps.
Still not tired yet, but I’m gonna be forced soon to take a 34.Trucker61016 and bzinger Thank this. -
