Hefty overweigh citation, how to proceed in court?

Giving the sob story of "distracted by things at home" and the judge might just add a "distracted driver" fine on top of the overweight fine.

 

He was probably legal gross weight for his truck but left 2 of his axles in the air. Legal for 8 axles, only had 6 on the ground. I don’t see how that would be a company ticket. It’s not their responsibility to make sure all his axles are down.

 

$975 is not really hefty. But it does suck! A crane operator I worked with didn’t read his permit well enough and didn’t ramp a 400t crane. Virginia nullified the permit and wrote a $196,000 worth of tickets. Now that’s HEFTY! Lol. I’d call and try to get your ticket reduced without a whole lot of chatter.

 

Yup been there before go to court plead mercy. Fine should be reduce. I wouldn't lose no sleep over it. Even if you don't make out.( I hope you do). They will give you payment arrangements. All the best along your journey

 

What did the company say about it? Why not explain things to them and let them pay it and dock you fifty bucks a week to recoup their cost if they insist you pay the fine.
