Rant: The 5-days-in-a-row workweek is arbitrary and my body doesn't agree with it

My oldest kid is 25 going to be 26 sometime soon.

She has been working since she was 13 years old on one or another project or business. Always hustling.

She works seven days a week. Every day up at 5, to bed at 8.

This last year, she paid more in taxes than most people working for others make.

She and her sister both are hustling all the time. She has two online businesses and bought a upper end car for Uber/lift and use it for door dash/shipt and other those service jobs.

this morning she complained that she doesn’t have enough to do, the online stuff is an hours worth the work at most.

her sister is day trading and doing other investment stuff, she will graduate in a month with her first university degree, and go on to getting another.

yep those two need to work two days a week ….

 

In all fairness tho if this schedule makes the op happy then good for him !
I think those of us that go back to the 80s and beyond have been conditioned to run run run and anything less is lazy .
With my truck paid off I'm slowing down and don't give a #### if anyone likes it or not .
In the 70s meat and cow haulers died of old age in theyre late 40s .
This biz is rough on marriages and kids and having started in the late 80s I've got 3 divorces under my belt and 2 kids I don't have a good relationship with cause I was always gone .
Times are changing and young people arnt putting up with this .

 

If you are young, middle aged, enjoy your family, if you have one. Go on vacation s, go to the baseball games, football.whatever. The point is enoy your life while you can. It doesn't make any difference how much money you make, you can never get that time back. And you will never be the Richest person in the world anyway.. When you get old, sit on your butt in a truck , if that is what you want to do. The older you get the easier it is to do nothing. Besides you will never see a U Haul trailer behind a Hearse.

As a guy in his 20s that’s what it is.
We’re just not gonna live out of the truck, we seen YOU do it and it doesn’t appeal at all. Not saying you were wrong to do it,
But to us looking from outside the numbers don’t jive.

it’s why young people today are seen as “lazy” some are yes, but more and more just want to make enough to live on and love their family/friends.
As they say when you’re dead you can’t take it with ya.

tho I do a lot of living out of the truck now with this new dispatcher blah, but ya win some lose some.

 

Might make unpopular saying this but my generation of driver is passing and a new one is taking place ...I dont like it ! But I can't change it .
The good news is I'm a superstar now in the eyes of dispatch .
