Same thing happened when I went in after a year to a flying j trying to buy a pizza with my points. I had a $100 or so on there. Oops! All gone because I hadn't shopped there for a year.

Was a decent pizza though if I remember.
    Pineapple I think it was.

You could try calling them and asking for them back, they might be able to do something. If the first person you get a hold of won't do it, you could ask for supervisor and keep escalating situation. You could write them a letter explaining how your oversight cost you a bunch of money and see if they would consider reinstating the points as a sign of goodwill.

$481 is quite a chunk of dough to forfeit, I'm thinking they would do something. But it is TA, and it is a mystery to me why they are running most of their truck stops into the ground, so who knows.

If that's true then I'll end up fueling there even less. I don't need nor even really care for the corporate sparkle, having spent more than enough years as a corporate champion myself. But I showered at a TA last week and was surprised to find I only had one shower. If that's because I'm not getting them at all any more, then yeah, maybe they really are going downhill and trying to grasp at every nickel they can get on the way out.

There's an old saying, "penny wise, pound foolish". I never understood that saying until I finally realized the pound actually refers to the British equivalent of a dollar. Maybe that's what TA is about these days, seeing free showers as lost shower revenue rather than as fuel sales gained.

As far as truck stop food goes Denny's makes the best burgers out there.

Don’t mess with t/a except for the reserved parking.
The thing I found that always added stress to the job was fighting for parking, now I simply don’t lol.

The shower was the last straw. One day, I had unlimited shower use, went home for a week, come back out and they want to charge me for a shower.

Back in the day, the Hook used to offer a shower ticket (looked like an old fashioned bus ticket)and a 24ouunce t-bone dinner for 100 gallon fill up. I was a company schmuck…guess where I filled up exclusively?

The main reasons why I started at the TA was because the Hook got rid of their restaurants when Peelot bought them, Petros had parking for superloads and they had a sit down restaurant with food that wasn’t cooked and then trucked in.

I hope they go out of business.

I prefer Love's BUT because of the reasons you listed they are also very popular. The diesel lanes are always a zoo there and good luck getting a shower in under 2 hours anywhere on I-80 any time of day. While I still make minor purchases at the Love's closest to my home to keep my points alive I can't justify the delays in using them as my primary fuel stop on the road.
