Huh didnt know that to be honest. i just knew it was the number off the plate. Likely explains why the guy was confused at least till i told him it was a bulldozer.

Police in general can not do anything unless they witness it, so turniing it in after the fact is just about useless. Call it a road hazard and turn it into insurance.

Oh have not gotten that call. Kinda worried I have blocked so many random numbers. Someday a friend or work offer may be blocked accidentally in my phone.

How about the fleet sales giving away gloves?

Insurance calls just started this week. My response is if I want a quote, I'll call you!

Before 1981 you had a serial number, not VIN. They had tried to standardized vin in some states as early as 50's. But it was not common practice.

Lost or stolen before 1981 with a serial is next to impossible to track. Unless someone registered it. Very easy to fake.

That’s IF the manufacturer STILL EXISTS…;)
Back when I still had it I had a little difficulty getting full coverage for my 1975 MG MGB convertible because the VIN number wasn’t long enough! When the old MGs were discontinued (circa 1980) British Leyland(owners of the brand at the time) was on life support-eventually ceasing operations in 1986.
