    I was trained by and drive for CFI. I am also a trainer with them. They will train you for free. You don't need a terminal close to home just a place to park your rig.

    With CFI, if they accept you, your CDL training is 3 week, then a couple of days orientation then out with a trainer for 21 days. We are dispatched as solo trucks, no team training. You do all the work. You learn on the job. Then you upgrade and get a truck. All of our trucks are no more than 3 years old. We are a growing company.

    There are many companies who will train you with little or no out of pocket expenses.

    Hope all this helps.

    I live about 170 miles from my nearest terminal. I have a Jeep and park it at the terminal. When I go on hometime, I go to the terminal and grab my Jeep and go. Also, if I have any maintenance issues I want looked at, I'll drop my truck in the shop before I go on hometime. It works for me, I'm don't have to worry about where to park a rig or its security while I'm home. But, I have a vehicle I can simply leave parked at the terminal while I'm out. If you don't have a vehicle you could do that with, perhaps have someone who could come pick you up and drop you off at the nearest terminal.
    Just giving alternatives.

    Does CFI have inward, driver facing cameras? I spoke with a recruiter today and she told me that they do not have driver facing cameras. Yet I read on other posts that they do... so which is it?

    I'm boosting this post only because I haven't really gotten a straight answer.

    I think Swift quit using inward facing camera.
    @Six9GS knows for sure.

    Yeah, Swift doesn't use an inward facing camera. They do have an outward facing one and it has a microphone that captures the audio inside the cab.
    They us the "Smart Drive" system to catch misc. 'events'. Most of the one they catch are usually kinda bogus in my opinion. At least the ones that they have been flagged for me. But, definitely times it should have captured an event on me and it didn't. So, I don't bother fighting the ones I think are bogus.
    If you have decent, safe, driving habits, the Smart Drive system is nothing to be worried about. More than half the time my score is 0. Otherwise, score will be like 2 or 3 points. An event stays around about a month before it drops off. As long as your score stays below 20, you're doing good. I've had 2 events in my 2 plus years driving that gave me scores above 20. Neither was any real issue. Discuss with my driver leader what happened and that was the end of it. However, if you have poor driving habits, especially following distance, your either gonna need to learn better habits or you may have a problem with long term employment with Swift. They do fire drivers who are chronically 'unsafe' in their driving habits.
