    They increased the percentage of drivers being tested to an amount equal to 50% of the drivers in the fleet or consortium. Up from 25% the year before due the the percentage of positive tests. FMCSA says the majority of positives are for marijuana and with more states legalizing the problem won't be going away. If a driver wants to take a chance it's their choice. but of they get into an accident with injuries/fatalities and test hot, they will likely be going away for awhile.

    And no matter how much people complain the U.S. Dept of Transportation is not going to allow the rules to be loosened anytime soon. This not only affects truck drivers, but airline, railroad, and ship/barge employees that have safety sensitive positions too.

    They should all do hair testing, and it should be part of the random testing too.

    this is stupid, you can’t be a professional and put your personal destructive habits aside?

    born&raisedintheusa and Team818 Thank this.

    That high powered pot that are pushing has additives, it messes with the users minds, they have been working at that stuff for years and years. Covid 19 isnt the only problem engineered in a Lab. Meth (very big problem). Anyways if it was a good thing the dems would not be pushing it so hard on the citizens of their own country like they are. Do no use pot. Or CBD unless you have 5 years or less to live.

    It might not be a bad idea to do random drug testing on all truck drivers, at least 1 to 2 times per month, both urine & hair follicle testing.

    God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

    The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

    Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

    It is a surge. If Truckers cannot stop on their own. Might have too. All the people I have seen once they get to the point of daily pot smoking... you have a real problem if they work for you.

    It's more to do with companies wanting a stronger guarantee which will make it harder for them to hire drivers and is more of a headache for drivers oh, so they're just going to have to pay more if only because it's harder for them to find drivers that can pass a hair follicle.

    Supply & demand, folks.

    You're crazy. My hair is quite long and I have it the way I want it and multiple hair follicle test a month would literally start disfiguring my appearance. Like you would actually have hair loss they would be cutting so much.

    It's not like they are giving you a haircut. They just cut a few strands about 1.5 inches long.

    born&raisedintheusa Thanks this.

    @Northeasterner
    Am I really crazy for wishing for a drug free workforce in safety sensitive positions?

    50 strands in my exp. No. You can't order them to cut less. That's obstructing the testing procedure.
