    Hi all,
This year purchased a truck and trailer, formed an LLC, got an EIN (and bank account for my company) and got my DOT numbers, also have the forms to do the Driver Qualification file but haven’t filled that out yet. Now I don’t plan to go out on my own til February/March of 22 so essentially I’m just getting my ducks in a row now and slowly spending money til then. What I want to know is what else do I need to remain in good standings and avoid any fines? Keep in mind the truck is likely going to sit and I will remain a company driver, in company equipment til then. If it did go on the road before then, I would run someone else’s numbers but that is quite unlikely. My truck and trailer is not on the road in any capacity. So I wonder in the meantime:

Do I need to pay the UCR?
Do I need to join a drug testing consortium?
Do I need to register for the clearinghouse as an employer (Have to be in a consortium to do that it seems)
    Do I need to file a BOC-3?
Is there any IFTA paper work I need to file and/or should I get my IFTA tags now?

I know I need to do all the above and other things before I go on the road but for the next 8-9 months do I need any of these (or something I’ve left out) with it just sitting?

Did you pay for your insurance? It doesn't sound like you have operating authority yet. Is that correct?

No insurance and no MC yet, going to wait til it’s closer to go time for that.

Then really there's nothing to protect. I set up all that, and a nice DOT officer came out to do a new entrant exam, but as I wasn't yet operational, there was nothing to talk about.

Since you're a company driver currently, I'm sure you're ALREADY registered on the clearinghouse. If you gonna be the ONLY driver working for yourself, I may be wrong with( regulations changing all the time), but Don't believe there is any drug consortium to worry about unless you have 3 or more employees? I'm assuming you have a current DOT medical card already attached to your license at the DMV.Im currently Not driving and medical card expired, but they assured me, I could still keep my CDL active here in Missouri. Have to get a medical card anyway before a company will let you drive for them, typically at their place of choice. Don't really see anything to worry about, other than not sure about an uninsured rig parked in your yard.JMO

Wrong answer - must be a member of a drug consortium, I just got my authority last Septembr and had to be a member and be tested. The easiest way to get your authority is to have OOIDA file everything for you.

It isn’t so much the paperwork I’m concerned about is that I want to make sure that I don’t need anything else while I’m sitting. Also I wonder if I can get that new member audit between now and then. I am worried telling them “Hey I’m not operational yet“ won’t satisfy the powers that be.

As long as you don't have an MC, you have nothing to worry about. The moment you get an MC and go active then you have to always keep everything in order. DOT and FMCSA know when you are active (MC and insurance). Don't you have a deadline to either go active or suspend the DOT Number?
