I just recently got my MC and DOT numbers back in April. No I’m not the driver, I have hired someone but they still for reason are giving me a very high quote. Progressive gave me a quote for about 80k a year which is truly insane. So please any help on how to get the cheapest insurance.

Well what quote did you get back in April?

You have to have your insurance in place before they will give you your Authority so what was that situation?

And how did that situation lead to this situation?

Coffey and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.

Keep on quoting till they lower it, took me 3 brokers and 8 quotes from progressive before I got a low one.

I got the same exact quote but they keep telling me it’s because of my age

You didn't go out a buy a truck before you researched this. Or maybe you did.

Well I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying when you say, "the same exact quote"

You can't get your motor carrier Authority with just a quote for insurance. You have to actually actively carry and pay the policy.

If you have your motor carrier Authority and you got that last April, you had to have insurance. So you're telling us that you've been paying $80,000 a year since then and now you're trying to figure something different out?

    Jarhed1964 Thanks this.

You don’t know a thing about this industry, you get a truck, get a driver and then complain ther your insurance quote is high?

$80k seems to be right for armchair owners.

What @pavrom said plus credit history.

Just curious what you stated you’d be hauling..if you told them Hazmat that would send your quote into the stratosphere

Biggest factor for me was location..Florida.

What state are you in and the closest city?

He got his numbers but hasn’t activated it yet..
Once they have a policy in place it can be activated.
