I'm dropping a truck Sunday in Dolores, CO and then I have a van I'm taking to SLC. I've been to Cortez, CO before so I know the roads via NM isn't bad but I've never run from SW CO into SLC. Is 191 to 6 into SLC a ok route? I assume someone here has been through there (191 goes through MOAB / Spanish Valley)
How is 191 to 6 in UT? (Cortez, CO to SLC, UT)

Done that route many times from Laredo to Portland.
Its a pretty drive. Over all pretty good running the whole way, hill here or there. Grade here or there, but an unforgettable route. It never slowed me down all that much even heavy.Dave_in_AZ, Team818, crocky and 1 other person Thank this. -
It is a good route. Just pay attention going through Moab because it is so beautiful you will have a hard time keeping your eye on the road. Moab, Utah area in my humble opinion is the most beautiful place on the country I have yet seen. Enjoy the drive!

That is my preferred route in winter when going from SLC to Dallas. I then follow 491 to 40 to 287.
It is much preferable to the frozen, wind-swept hell of i80 to i25 of Wyoming in the winter.Dave_in_AZ, Team818, FerrissWheel and 1 other person Thank this. -
Good road. Will have a lot of camping traffic.
Watch your speeds in the few little towns you come upon.
Make sure you have fuel.Team818, FerrissWheel and crocky Thank this. -
Lots of gorgeous views like these
