Most of us know this is the way it is, but I found this to be an interesting analysis on the history and why trucking seems to have lost it's prestige to the American public and the free market.
Why truck driver pay has decreased by as much as 50% since the 1970s
Trucker wages...decreasing as time goes by.

Its only going to get worse with the open borders too. In 5 years there will probably only be 25% native born American Drivers. If THAT. In some parts of the country it is already LOWER than 25%. More like 10%.... sorry to say. This TTR will be Gone, or replaced by the TRTR the first R will be for Retired. The rest will be in Kaos.

We tell everyone we're mad as hell. And we're not going to take it anymore.
We could have it someplace where there could be a band, and beer, and a cookout.Judge, Studebaker Hawk, Northern Nomad and 12 others Thank this. -

Everyone want the same pay as the early 70s but no one want to drive the trucks they had back then. Today's trucks are better and more expensive. Just like driver pay is less and trucking is not regulated rate by the government. So it a little of everything drive pay is less today.
Team818 and snowlauncher Thank this. -
Baloney. Whether or not trucking wages have kept pace with inflation, I think trucking wages are indeed decent. It's just you spoiled brats have to live like kings, and can't make it on 75grand a year. Well, I say, boo-hoo. I turned down a mail hauling job, $27/hr WITH benefits, they can't find anyone. Really? I drove a truck for almost half that, and not that long ago. It's not just trucking, businesses are closing, like diners and such, nobody is applying for these jobs. Walmart is offering $19/hour for stock work here, the aisles are jammed with goods on pallets, and nobody to put it on the shelves. With 4 figure rent, people literally can't make it on $20/hour. I think, $50/60grand/year, what it seems most truck drivers make today, is a good wage, cripes, you just sit there, the truck does all the work,,,
