People who do that aren’t worthy of the term “driver”.

Pallets broken down to sawdust and the freight is damaged to the point it’ll for sure get refused upon delivery?

This might sound sick, and I am kinda self-sadistic, but I miss P&D. Mostly the pace and the interactions with the few good customers.

Gearjammin' Penguin and Radman Thank this.

That’s one of the reasons I left Foodservice having to rely on the dock to load my trailer right. I can see this relating to city p&d you have to rely on the dock. Now on Linehaul I have to rely on my meet driver. I flat out tell them if you bring me crap I hope you packed a overnight bag cause I ain’t taking the trailers. If hazmat or out of compliance(like a serious maintenance issue that you know the driver could of got fixed in yard) I don’t mind going across and laying down. Most meet drivers don’t like doing layovers. Luckily I’ve had good meet drivers.

One day last week I had a skid of fertilizer I had to bring back, for no other reason than it was on a 4-stringer pallet that I couldn’t move. And I wasn’t breaking that crap down either.

To add insult to injury, the dock idiot actually had the nerve to ask WHY I brought it back. I gave the dummy my pallet jack and said “try and move it”.

I love P&D. And I have practically no bad customers--maybe it's just my area?

I would say so. Territories do vary widely. There’s a reason I chose to run where I do vs. anywhere near Washington DC.

I was taking a look online, and the only LTL barns near me are FedEx Freight and Oak Harbor Freight Lines. Everyone else is an hour drive away. OHFL looks good except for the pay. It’s about $4/hr lower than the competitors.

misterG, Radman and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this.
