Making Trailer Cleanout Station

Your boss will probably end up having to hire a person for that task completely if the trailers are that dirty. Get a gas powered blower for him too, and a dumpster, you drop trailer, he/she blows it out, you spot trl at open dock door, repeat, maybe? When he is not busy, parking lot broom and put all the refuse, broken pallets, what have you in the dumpster. Otherwise I guess try your vac idea and tell us how that works okay?

The leaf blower method always bugged me because guys would just blow them out onto the ground and drive away, leaving a pile of dirt, nails, splinters from broken pallets, etc.

I was at a Georgia Pacific plant once that had a pretty slick clean out station. It was basically a dummy dock that you backed up to, then they had a grated floor with a dumpster down below the “dock” that you swept everything into. That would work great with a blower as well.

 

Look into leaf vacuum setups. That would work for dust but probably struggle with chunks of pallets and nails.

 

Years ago I picked up a load of flour in Great Falls MT and my trailer wasn't clean enough for them. So I pull around back and they had 2 cleaning stations you backed the trailer up to. Basically a concrete loading dock with a dumpster on the other side you could just sweep the debris into. I have to admit, it was a great setup.

 

That'll teach you to volunteer to do more work!

Large construction shop vac just suck up the mess directly. If you set up a hood it’ll get all the fine dust but don’t count on it catching all of it.
Use em when refinishing hardwood floors/grinding off thinset

 

I use a broom to sweep the big stuff into a garbage can and then use my leaf blower for the fine dust.
Nothing but a little dust ends up on the ground.

 

Sweep it and then use a billy goat gas powered vacuum ?
Or if the dust is an issue you could hose it out with water .

 

great idea but will never work. A truckie driver must sweep out his nails and wood pieces on the travel area of the shipper or receiver. this is a must. gets others the chance to drive threw it. if needed. just sweep out alll the trash out of the back in the truck stop.
