Wondering if I can take girlfriend and go on a long road trip when my truck is ready. Wanna throw my private car on the truck and "camp" in my freightliner.

Do you run personal conveyance? Do those miles count towards IFTA? Would camp grounds allow me to park?

Miles count toward IFTA. many campgrounds do not all commercial vehicles (heck some don't even alloe bus conversions) and younwould still need written permission from the motor carrier (even if you are the carrier) tonhave the authorized passenger in the truck.

It would be legal PC, just be prepared to document ut and remember to log on duty for fueling, servicing and conditioning of the truck. That is a requirement even when using PC.

So when I stop at the fuel island I have to log on duty? what do you mean conditioning of the truck?

I guess if I can't stop at camping grounds then truckstops are my only realistic options?

So type up a letter from my own company that I give permission to myself to take a passenger?

The free country of the United States of America. I was born in 1954 this country seems more like a communist country. When I was in the Marines the threat was from the communist now it is from within. Do not doubt it Joe is forming list of people who disagree!

If the fuel burned is PC, why shouldn't the fueling be PC? He's not fueling the truck for commerce, he's fueling it for his road trip.

Like a communist country. Bull ####. We’re no where near a communist country. Everyone is so extremist. Good lord. Regulations suck unless there for something you like.

Playing devils advocate here he didnt say it IS a communist country. Jusy that it seems like one. Which considering how the government is constantly trying to remove rights either via regulation, law, or just flat out remove them is a fair assesment. We arent there yet, not even close but it is fair to say that compared to 50 years ago we are a lot closer and it seems we get closer all the time.

That said there have always been ######## regulations, things like regulated trucking (no pun intended) being a prime example. And many regulations are a knee jerk reaction to a handful of morons ####ing it up for the rest of us. See morons driving themselves to death pr being pressured into it and killing people when they crash contributeing to ELDs. Make no mistake many companys would LOVE to kill ELD and be allowed to force their drivers to go until they drop. Its just more obvious now due to tech.

And before you say it i hate both sides and always try to look at this kinda thing from the edge and make my own conclusions.

I think you can. I have stopped at state parts and used the facilities. Went fishing, swimming. I probably am not compliant with these regulations Brian 991219 is referring to but I must be a dinosaur, arrest me.
