Going down the highway its fine. If i let off and get back on the throttle while downshifting once in a great while the throttle does nothing, let off and back on it then it works again.. While doing to the check engine light has come on for a second. Most the time there is no code stored, perhaps because it did it so fast? But a couple times ive gotten these codes with my scangauge i have stuck on the dash. They were not all at the same time, each different time.
    ID: 71 FM: 0
    ID: 102 FM: 0
    ID: 91 FM: 4

All the code lists i can find stop at 87 and code 71 is Injector "Response Time Too Short".
Cant find anything out on the others...
I searched everywhere under the hood and shook every wire with it on high idle to see if it would do anything and nothing.. Seems like it only does it in deceleration.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I think some how scan gauge has their own codes and you have to contact them to get it translated to something you can use. I’d have someone hook up a scanner to read the codes.
@jamespmack may have some suggestions to look for.

Thanks, I emailed scangauge and waiting a reply. Once i cleared them codes they wont come back... it could be awhile before they do and if they are even the same ones, they been varying. No point in taking it anywhere, they'd just look at it like a deer in headlights and charge me money for hours of nothing then tell me its fine and nothings wrong.

scangauge emailed back and gave me this website. Big Diesel Codes
I did find them on there. No FM numbers though and 71 doesnt match the detroit list.
It happens then I down shift half of a gear (split, 13 speed) slowing down and hit the throttle after preselecting the lower gear... give it a little throttle and fine, then let off and get back on and nothing. Let off and get back on and its fine. I had suspected the pedal... but it even did it once while it was on cruise control. so??

Codes from scangauge site they sent me.
    102 - Engine Intake Manifold #1 Pressure
    91 - Accelerator Pedal Position
71 - Idle Shutdown Timer Status

Forget about scan gauge. Pull flash codes. Check power and grounds at battery, frame, starter. If no issues. Which I'm betting there is. Start repair with first active code.

ID: 91 FM: 4 started to happen more... Every time i hit the throttle to downshift.

Ended up being a faulty throttle position sensor, or treadle. Bendix part number 550389
I was bored at a rest area and started playing with it and got it to do it more.
Bench testing, 3 terminals, throttle from 0-full shows no resistance to resistance on one side, and then the other is supposed to be opposite, resistance to none and it stayed at the same value and didnt move from zero throttle to about 1/4 throttle and you could feel some scratchiness in the potentiometer when you turned it at that spot.

Its back again... same issue. So I replaced the jumper wire from the throttle sensor to the plug in behind the dash... still having the same issue.
ID-91 FM-04 Typical diagnosis for this is "circuit faile low"
Any idea where i can find a wire diagram of where the throttle wires are? The ones in the link on here for vehicle interface dont have it and the one for the engine interface doesnt have it.. where the hell is the throttle circuit? Where does this circuit get power? so i can check. Thanks.,

    **Update.
After going through every harness on the firewall and inspecting, cleaning connections, and neatly tying up, and testing everything, throttle actuator, jumper wire, and harness behind dash... nothing... it was all fine. And random periodic engine light and cut out would still occur when decelerating.
So... not sure if the throttle sensor/treadle/potentiometer whatever you want to call it had directions but i never checked. Yesterday i was irritated with it again... so as I sat in a rest area I loosened the screws that hold the sensor to the throttle pedal and it sets on there pretty aligned and only has about .025" of play if you turn it side to side.... well BAM!! I turned it one way and the check engine light stayed on.. so I turned it and held it all the way the other way (counter clockwise i believe) and retightened the screws... light went out. And I drove just over 1,000 miles and the engine light never came on.... lol.. thats all I think it was, making sure the sensor is clocked properly when installing. So simple its stupid. Anyway... we'll see.

So pedal sensor is OK. Just out of adjustment? Good deal.
