I know there are a few different routes all very similar in distance and time...Just thought I'd ask fellow tankers who are also usually loaded to around 80k lbs and know what it's like going over mountains...Last time I launched out I went through Spokane and into Montana, and while the scenery is beautiful it seemed like it took forever to get over the mountains in Idaho and Montana.
Grandview WA to Gary IN preferred route ?

That's the way I've been going. It's tough. Seems easier coming out than going in, but surely not with the drop in elevation heading west. Don't think there's an easier route though.
BlueThunderr Thanks this. -
Only 2 routes to take. 90 through idaho/montana or 84 through Oregon/Idaho. You’re gonna have mountain passes ether way so its a toss up. If you’ve gone 90 before might try 84 this time to see if there’s much difference.
BlueThunderr and Team818 Thank this. -
I-90 to Billings then 94 or 90 to Chicago.

Beautiful run this time of year. Nice miles too. I don't care for chicago gary though.

I ended up runnin I-80 through Wyoming...I usually run nights but not this time...I was surprised at how much traffic was on I-80 through Wyoming in the daytime and even into the night...Also there was a bunch of construction on this route too....I think next time I'll run the I94>I90...Much better scenery and less traffic
